A stack mold can be thought of as a series of
interconnected single face molds. Each level of the mold
is “stacked” next to the other level and has the same
dimensions and surface area so it fits within the same
tie bar spacing. This allows the molder to double
productivity per cycle by doubling the number of
cavities on the same given machine/tonnage.
Stack molds can meet a variety of molding demands
because they are available in configurations that best
help the user achieve an optimum tooling solution.
BENEFITS
Increase output efficiency per machine
Decreases number of machines required to produce a
given volume (reducing machine capital/maintenance)
Can lower a machine’s tonnage or size requirement,
vs. multi cavity single face molds.
Allows molders to optimize floor space, by
reducing number of machines
Mold ejection functions are self-contained, in
many cases driven mechanically by the mold’s opening
stroke.
Cycle time affected only fractions of a second due
to increased opening stroke to allow opening of both
mold faces.
StackTeck’s cascade approach allows for
pre-engineered convertible molds with 1, 2 or 3
opening faces to be converted to a greater number of
opening faces, should future part volume increase.
